Welcome to the Richmond and District Civic Society
The Richmond and District Civic Society is based on the four cornerstones of what makes Richmondshire in North Yorkshire such a rewarding place to live:
-
A wealth of heritage
-
A long and rich history
-
A beautiful townscape
-
A surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty
Founded in 1967, the society has nurtured and developed a pride in our area through:
-
Holding monthly talks on our local history, culture and landscape
-
Monitoring all planning applications affecting heritage sites
-
Organizing visits and tours both within our area and throughout the UK
-
Providing information for visitors to Richmond
-
Keeping strong links with other civic societies and heritage organizations in the UK.
Why not join The Civic Society and discover a great deal about where you live.
Every two years, the society publishes its Review, a combination of reports on the year's activities and articles written by members and professionals. These are wide ranging but most often have a local history or heritage theme.
Non-members can buy copies of The Review from Castle Hill Bookshop in the town or through the society (please use the Contact page).
